Brian D. Smith, P.E., S.E.

Brian D. Smith is the Owner of Sage Engineering which provides civil and structural engineering services for architectural and construction firms, as well as designing and developing for developers and investors.

Brian founded Pinnacle Engineers, Inc. and was President of the company from it’s inception in 1993 to 2009, when it was dissolved and he created Sage Engineers, Inc. and then transitioned to Sage Engineering in 2012.

As a Project Civil/Structural Engineer of Pinnacle Engineers, he was responsible for the management and design of civil and structural engineering projects. The volumn of his work has extended to over 10,000+ projects in the United States and abroad. His civil work ranges from subdivisions, hillside ordinance, commercial site, and infrastructure projects. His structural work encompasses all aspects of structural design which includes high rise design; commercial, government, school, and residential buildings; bridges; foundations; and retaining walls. His structural designs have been in all types of construction including, but not limited to CMU, Concrete (Pre-cast, Post-Tensioned, Tilt-up and General), Steel (Light Gauge, Pre-engineered and Standard), Wood and various materials.

Previously, Brian’s work as a structural engineer from July 1991 to August 1992 was for NLK-CELPAP in Seattle. While there he designed the modernization of the Weyerhaeuser Mill in Longview, Washington.

From September 1990 to July 1991, he worked for Martin and Bravo, Inc. in Honolulu, Hawaii. While there he designed the Toyota Corporate retreat on the island of Hawaii, Manennggon Hills Resort in Guam, Symphony Hills Parking Structure on Oahu and the preliminary design of three high rises in Honolulu.

From August 1989 to September 1990, he worked for Contractors Northwest, Inc. in Boise and Lewiston, Idaho as a project field engineer mainly overseeing the modernization of the Potlatch Pulp and Paper Mill in Lewiston, Idaho.

From April 1988 to August 1989, he worked for the Bridge Design Headquarters for the Idaho Department of Transportation. He was responsible for the design of seven bridges for the expansion of I-15 in eastern Idaho, as well as several other bridge structures.
